OBJECTIVE
PICP is requesting proposals (technical and financial) from approved service providers (by the Ministry of Environment, Sustainable Development and the Congo Basin) for the handling of waste at PICP.
SCOPE OF WORK
A. Non-Hazardous Waste Management
These include paper and cardboard, plastics, food waste, metals and glass.
(1) Segregation and storage:
a. Provision of color-coded waste bins (with lids) for effective segregation of waste
b. Provision of large waste container where waste would be stored and would serve as collection point
(2) Transportation:
a. Transport waste in environmentally safe and responsible manner, using appropriate levels of protection and containment of the waste
b. Use appropriate vehicles for transportation
c. Use safe loading and unloading procedures to protect workforce and prevent loss of waste
d. Provide means for emergency response where appropriate
e. Ensure appropriate labelling of wastes and vehicles
(3) Treatment and Disposal:
All waste transfer will require proper documentation (BSD) to specify the following:
- Type of waste
- Waste packaging
- Quantity of waste (per type)
- Destination of the waste
- Waste disposal specification
(4) Periodicity:
The selected vendor would be required to collect the waste from the collection point on site at least twice a week and more frequently based on the volume produced.
(5) Waste Location:
The selected vendor would be expected to install the waste bins and collect waste from two (02) main areas in the zone, including the office location and the dormitory location.
B. Sewage
During the construction phase, which is ongoing, sewage is being collected into septic tanks.
(1) Septic tank location:
The selected vendor would thus be expected to collect the sewage from the following locations:
- Office location – 3 septic tanks, with a capacity of 1,30m3 depth
- Dormitory location – 3 septic tanks (dimension = 3.5*1.3*1.2 for 2 of them and 2.5*1.2*1.2 for the 3rd)
(2) Periodicity:
The selected vendor would be expected to empty the septic tanks once/quarter (once every 3 months).
(3) Transportation:
- Transport waste in environmentally safe and responsible manner, using appropriate levels of protection and containment of the waste
- Use appropriate vehicles for transportation
- Use safe loading and unloading procedures to protect workforce and prevent loss of waste
- Provide means for emergency response where appropriate
(4) Treatment and Disposal:
All waste transfer will require proper documentation (BSD) to specify the licensed treatment facility the sewage is being disposed.

- Authorization from the Ministry of Environment, Sustainable Development and Congo Basin to open waste treatment centre (if applicable)
- In absence of waste treatment center provide authorization of the waste treatment centre being used by the company
- Copy of the company’s ‘Bordereau de Suivi de Déchets’ (BSD) form
